It’s difficult to put into words how excited I am to give this announcement today. The past few years have taught me many things both in and out of school, and as I begin my final semester of Architecture school working on my undergraduate thesis, I can’t help but think about how to bring together all my work in a way that can truly show how much I’ve learned.

It’s no secret that I can’t sit still… It’s no secret that my creative mind is constantly racing, and that Architecture, Film, and Music are constantly at the forefront. Well… I’ve been working on something for the last couple of months and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Being trained as an Architect means I can see space in ways that a non design-trained eye can’t. But for me, it’s beyond just that. Even when I visualize space, or I experience space in real time, there is always a voice in my head singing a song. There is always a musical experience tied to how I think about space, and how I experience it. The relationship between these two drastically different forms of art has always been a fascinating one for me. One that keeps me up late at night trying to figure out how best to manifest that relationship in visual terms that I can share with others. In parallel to exploring this relationship, I have, for the last several years, been learning how to make films, and see the world and capture it through a camera. I’ve learned how to frame narratives and tell stories through a lens. These three mediums of expression, Music, Architecture, and Film have been a constant source of inspiration for me, pushing the boundaries not only of my technical skills, but in the way I think. Without knowing it, I’ve been searching for a way to link them – for a way to allow buildings to become an expression of melody and passion, and allow the experience of music to become spatial.

Today I am beyond excited to announce the launch of The Singing Buildings Project. The Singing Buildings Project @singing_buildings is the next step in the pursuit of building a relationship between musical artists and architecture. It is a project I am deeply passionate about, as it is the culmination not only of my areas of interest, but also of a long period of growth, failure, trial and error, doubt, victory, and reflection. It is an opportunity for me to share with the world MY vision of space. It is an opportunity for artists and architecture to share a stage in ways that allow music to thrive, and architecture to sing.

SINGING BUILDINGS is a new platform that brings together the incredible talent of emerging artists and provides them with new means by which to perform. It will also allow buildings’ narratives to be told and experienced through the medium of music, a form of architectural exploration that may allow for a deeper understanding of space to be communicated to a broader audience. In this way, Architecture becomes the next frontier for the growth and development of emerging artists while pushing the boundaries of what it means to give a live performance.

This project is both personal and professional to me, as are the relationships I’ve built throughout the years that have brought me to this place here today.
